Time To Talk Toolkit
Being a caregiver can be rewarding and fulfilling. It can also be challenging and cause frustration, stress and anxiety. Care providers can make a difference. Asking a simple question like “How are you?” can make a meaningful difference for caregivers and start an important conversation.
The Time to Talk toolkit was co-designed and created by care providers[i] and caregivers to support both in their role and to encourage meaningful conversations.
Meet Sandy. She shares what an initiative like Time to Talk means for caregivers.
Time to Talk will help your organization:
- Support staff with the tools they need to recognize caregivers and better understand the impact of caregiving
- Enable staff to direct caregivers to appropriate supports
- Contribute to a culture change in recognizing, supporting and valuing caregivers
- Lay the foundation for formally recognizing and including caregivers as part of the care team, using a Partners in Care approach
The core of the toolkit provides a tip sheet for staff with seven easy things care providers can do to make a difference to the caregiver experience. These tips, designed by caregivers, support focused conversations. Other elements of the toolkit include resources and materials that support implementation, build champions among staff, and sustain change.
