Falls Prevention and Emergency Services for Caregivers
Having a fall at home can be a scary and life altering event with prolonged and serious consequences. While seniors and individuals with medical conditions tend to experience falls more often, there are things that can be done to minimize fall risk, reduce anxiety regarding falls and maintain independence. Knowing what to do and who to call for support can help give caregivers peace of mind in the event of a fall at home.
This one hour webinar, facilitated by a community educator from the Regional Learning Centre, will cover:
- falls and near falls and their impacts
- why falls occur and common risk factors
- ways to reduce fall risk in the home including lifestyle modifications and home safety
- what to do when a fall occurs
- community resources for falls prevention and emergency services supports
This webinar is open to family caregivers as well as health care providers who support family caregivers in their work.
