Monday 20th, 1-2:30 PM Diabetes Education with Dr. Arshad Humayun. Healthy eating and diabetes management: Introduction healthy eating and diabetes management: Meal planning, Introduction to food, energy and blood sugar levels. Re-diabetes, Type 2 Diabetes, symptoms & its complications. Risk factors for type 2 Diabetes, prevention and Management.
Monday 27th, 1-2:30 PM Home safety and Assistive Devices with OT Archana Bhuvitharan. earning how home modifications can enhance independent living for individuals with disabilities. We will also cover Mobility Aids and independence around the home.

Monday 4th, 1-2:30 PM Being an advocate for someone you care about in the health care system With Jan Haskings-winner. In this session, we will cover the role of Patient Family Advocates at SHN, a personal story from an advocate and what they learned, how to advocate/resources and a Q&A.
Thursday 14th, 6 – 7:30 PM & Monday 18th, 1-2:30 PM How to lead an ear? Supporting someone with hearing loss with Lori Jackson. How to recognize and support hearing loss in a loved one as a caregiver as well as troubleshooting conversations and hearing aids understanding hearing loss, limitations, rights and how clinics work, questions to ask.
November
Monday 8th, 1-2:30 PM Making a Will with the Ontario Bar Association. November is Make a Will Month join a Trusts and Estates Lawyer to learn about the importance of having a will and how a lawyer can help. We will cover why a Will is needed, what happens if you don’t have one and other important features of a Will.
Thursday 18th, 6-7:30 PM Caregiver 101 with Amy Stephenson. If you provide unpaid support for mental or physical health to another person you are a caregiver and you are not alone 1 in 4 Canadian over 15 are caregivers! Many in this role are not aware of their title. We will cover who are caregivers, what is the caregiver journey is and how to find support for yourself or others.
Monday 22nd, 1-2:30 PM Power of Attorney for caregivers with Clara McGregor from Advocacy Center for the Elderly (ACE)
