Virtual Caregiver Education Forum: COVID-19 & dementia care by The Scarborough Health Network
The Scarborough Health Network (formerly The Scarborough and Rouge Hospital) in partnership with the Alzheimer Society of Toronto is organizing a virtual Caregiver Education Forum on Friday, May 28, 2021 from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm. The event has been very well attended over the last couple of years by caregivers of individuals living with dementia as well as healthcare providers. Our goal is to provide education and help caregivers access resources and supports in the community. The theme of this year’s event is “COVID-19 and Dementia”
For this year’s event, we will have speakers presenting on topics that relate to the ongoing global pandemic, so that caregivers can better understand the intricacies of dementia care and take away strategies they can practice at home. We will also have community service agencies presenting on what their organizations offer to caregivers of people living with dementia. The event will cover the following topics:
- TOPIC 1: Medical Management of Dementia During COVID-19, Dr. Tanya Pinto, Psychiatrist, SHN Birchmount Hospital
- TOPIC 2: Keeping Active During COVID-19 for Person Living with Dementia and their Caregiver, Haley McTaggart & Chantel Costa, Recreation Therapists, Scarborough Centre for Healthy Communities
- TOPIC 3: COVID-19 & Caring for a Person Living with Dementia, Kimberly Dilmohamed, Caregiver Education Coordinator, Alzheimer Society of Toronto
We invite you to join us for a morning of networking and learning. There will be raffle prizes drawn after each speaker.
Registration is required to attend. This event will be presented online using Zoom. The link will be emailed to registrants a few days before the event.
