OCO Webinar – Caregivers and Puppets: The Perfect Pair

August 19, 2021
12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Puppetry is a playful and creative tool for caregivers. It helps us look at things differently and encourage social interaction. Through puppet-making activities, we explore ways to build rewarding intergenerational connections.
In this webinar, we will demonstrate how puppetry and storytelling can help caregivers:
Explain to children the caregiver role, why it’s important, and changes in family dynamics when someone needs special care
Interact in a joyful and engaging way with their care recipients, especially those diagnosed with dementia at any stage of the disease
About our speaker – Shelley King
Shelley King is an arts educator, puppeteer, expressive arts facilitator, and family caregiver. As the founder of Artful Connections, she offers creative and engaging workshops that spark imagination and take the pressure off remembering for people with dementia. She also facilitates workshops and designs resources for caregivers that teach innovative strategies and activities in order to build a meaningful connection with their care recipient.
