OCO’s Statement on National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

In June 2020, the federal government designated September 30th as a day to recognize and commemorate the legacy of Residential Schools in Canada, and their ongoing impact on Indigenous peoples and communities, in response to the calls to action from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. The Ontario Caregiver Organization recognizes the importance of reconciliation with Indigenous people and acknowledging past and ongoing harm that has been inflicted and how that translates into health care and health equity. OCO is committed to engaging in ongoing dialogue, learning and collaboration to address the calls to action from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, which is a process that continues long beyond this day.  To commemorate the day, OCO staff will come together virtually to learn and reflect.
