Scott Dudgeon is a retired health care executive who has held a variety of leadership roles in hospitals and within the broader health care system. As CEO of the Toronto District Health Council, Scott became sensitized to the particular challenges of parents of children living with complex medical conditions and the need to improve their support. His experience working in the mental health sector and as CEO of the Alzheimer Society of Canada deepened his understanding of the importance of caregiving and the need to include caregivers in care teams. Scott learned through personal experience and through his work and his service on hospital and other voluntary boards that caregivers are often left to figure out for themselveshow to meet each day’s heroic challenges and need more support.
His personal caregiving experience includes partnering with his wife to help their parents in their final years of dementia, cancer, Parkinsons and end of life care.
