Opportunity to share your experience with The Ontario Caregiver Organization
Opportunity to share your experience with The Ontario Caregiver Organization
The Ontario Caregiver Organization has been created to help improve the experience for caregivers who support a family member, partner, friend or neighbor with physical and/or mental health needs.
We are currently looking for caregivers to participate in one of three workshops in order to better understand the needs of Ontario Caregivers. Each workshop will include 8 – 10 caregivers, as well as a facilitator. The workshops will take place in Toronto on April 9thand 10th.
Workshop A: April 9th (12:30 – 3:30 p.m.)
Caregivers who worry about their own mental health and the toll caregiving takes on them
Workshop B: April 10th (9 a.m. – noon)
Caregivers who support a child or youth with mental health challenges
Workshop C: April 10th (1 – 4 p.m).
Caregivers who support an adult with mental health challenges
The focused conversation will explore opportunities to improve the caregiver experience and will help to inform the work of The Ontario Caregiver Organization. From the discussion, the Ontario Caregiver Organization will create a caregiver “wish list” for each of the workshops. Each wish list will be shared publicly using video footage and photography from the workshop, as well as using supporting visual and written materials that will help paint a fuller picture of the experience of caregivers.
Participants will have a little bit of prep work in advance. Caregivers will be reimbursed for travel, accommodations, incidentals (including respite or child care) and/or meals related to the workshop. Caregivers will also receive $50 for their time.
The wish list is a concept was created by a caregiver, in partnership with The Change Foundation and we thank them for allowing us to continue this meaningful work.
