As a family member or caregiver, we understand that your loved one’s mental health or substance use health can have a significant impact on you. The Royal’s family information and support events are intended for family members or caregivers of individuals with a mental health or substance use health issue. These events are an opportunity to learn from our experts, find out about available resources, and connect with others who share a similar experience. There is no cost to participate but registration is required.

Gilles Comeau, University of Ottawa
Director of the Music and Health Research Institute

Music generates profound and meaningful experiences and enhances people’s life. Engaging in music is a rich human experience that affects people’s health and brings psychological, physiological and social wellbeing. This presentation will cover the following:

  • Overview of what research is saying on the benefits of engaging in music activities for caregivers who are supporting a loved one.
  • Discussion on what music activities you would like to have access to – how could we develop music programs that would respond to your needs.

Participants will take away information on how to integrate music in their life to increase their wellbeing.
